Artist’s Statement

My work focuses on the aesthetics of landscape as well as capturing an interesting perspective of architecture in my paintings. Influenced by Impressionism, I find the fuzziness and the texture of the Impressionists visually fascinating. I bring this into my practice by applying acrylic paint thickly to create a rougher texture and, at the same time, depicting a landscape from a specific place I've visited. My paintings are painted from photographs I've taken while travelling in Europe to countries such as Spain, Italy, and Germany, taken on days when the weather is clear, or when the sky produces an aesthetically pleasing sunset or sunrise. My work is to give viewers an uplifting feeling visually with the use of vibrant colours applied to the surface.
