Artistβs Statement
I used watercolour, oil pastels, and acrylic paint to explore and reflect on my memories with my family. By combining these different materials, I was able to represent a range of emotions and moments from my past. The soft, flowing quality of watercolour helped me show the more gentle and distant memories, giving them a faded, dreamlike feel, like looking back through time. The oil pastels allowed me to add stronger colours and textures, helping certain memories stand out and feel more vivid and emotional. Acrylic paint gave me the ability to build layers and include bolder shapes and details, making some moments feel more solid and important.
Through using these three media together, I was able to look back on meaningful experiences with my family and reflect on how those moments have stayed with me. Each material helped express a different feeling or part of the memory, allowing me to create a piece that shows both the happiness and the depth of those times. The artwork became a way of capturing not just what happened, but how those memories feel to me now, turning personal moments into something visual and lasting.
